Personal PR – how to develop it
What is personal PR?
Personal PR is exactly what it says it is. It’s how the world sees you
and that is decided by how you choose to portray yourself to the world.
People buy people, not just goods or services. We love to buy from
people we like. However, we’re basically judgmental. This applies in
interviews for jobs, a sales pitch, a presentation or a networking
event, as well as numerous other social occasions. People are seeking
certain qualities in you and, whether they know it or not, they’re
using a sub-conscious list to check you out. So, how are you putting
yourself out into the world?
The personal PR list - are you:
- Positive - do you exclude negative statements when you speak and avoid spending time with negative thinking people who drain your energy?
- Assertive – are you impressive without being aggressive?
- Impactful – is every word you speak memorable? Do people pay close attention to what you have to say?
- Dependable – are you able to respond to any situation, and be sure that you won’t let any one down?
- Unswerving – if you believe your course of action to be the right one, do you stick to it, no matter what?
- Presentable – do you have a strong personal image and, are people impressed by you, whenever you speak? Do you make the most of your looks, voice, clothes, hair, skin and movement? Do you always appear and sound the best you can possibly be?
So – are you P A I D U P. (Paid up)? That is to say, a fully PAID UP member of the Personal PR Club.
